Almost 70 parishioners and friends enjoyed a Thanksgiving feast in the parish hall at noon on Thanksgiving Day. This event has been growing in popularity over the years, and is now a standard part of our holiday celebrations. The meal was coordinated by Diane Halim and Sallie Honeycutt, with Wayne Ellerbee providing the meats and several individuals bringing side dishes and desserts from their homes.
Diane Halim said, “It was wonderful! Thanks to Judge Ellerbee for the delicious meat. It was an opportunity to gather, celebrate, be thankful and to share a meal with our church family. It was where I wanted to be for Thanksgiving.”
Juanita Quinn brought one of the side dishes and “was impressed with how many people came to the feast. There were people of all ages, visitors, and families. And we were all thankful,” she said. After the dinner, Juanita even took food to her sick friend, Mimi Allen, who had planned to attend but couldn’t come at the last minute because of illness. “And, I was thankful, too,” said Mimi.
Alan Johnson said he had invitations to other places but “wanted to be with his church family.”
Sallie Hunnicutt, one of the planners, was also “delighted with how many people came to enjoy the feast.”
