Christmas Day Lunch

After the Christmas morning service, approximately forty people gathered in the parish hall of Christ Episcopal Church for a Christmas day lunch with the main entree items prepared by Judge Wayne Ellerbee. The buffet table consisted of prime rib, salmon, baked potatoes, fresh rolls and a variety of salads and vegetables. Baklava and banana pudding were among the highlights on the dessert table. Phyllis Hiers and Julia Ariail helped to coordinate the additional food items.
In addition to these culinary delights, we all enjoyed the opportunity for members of the Christ Church family to gather together to share this holiday meal. This is the second year we have done this on Christmas Day. There are many in our church and in this community who don’t have large families to spend the holidays with, or who can’t afford to travel to see their families, or don’t have a home and kitchen suited for preparing a dinner like this or having company over to join them. This is just one reason it is important for us to continue to have Christmas Day lunch for our church family, and we hope to continue this on future Christmas Days.
