Summary of March 17, 2014, Vestry Meeting:
— Treasurer Bonnie Hanson: Income exceeded expenses in past month.
— Jr. Warden Frances Guice: Repairs planned at rectory and in parish hall kitchen (baseboards and rotted floor under ice maker, moving ice maker to pantry) as well as organ repair and tuning, regrading parking lot, painting rector’s office, fixing loose ceiling tiles.
— Adopted Planned Giving resolution.
— April 9 – Wednesday Fish Fry.
— April 10 – Christ Church to host VSU Phi Mu Alpha music fraternity concert at 7:30 p.m. on April 10. The concert will be a memorial tribute to Dr. Lavan Robinson, and all proceeds will be donated to a VSU scholarship named for him.
— April 24th – Silent Auction to benefit Dominican Republic mission and support the team’s plans to build a house in conjunction with a team from Nebraska and to conduct the knitting project.
— Agreed to engage Tillman and Tillman accounting firm to conduct a full audit.
— Discussed reorganization of committees to provide an action plan of intentions and a record of continuity as new members become involved. These changes to be incorporated in new bylaws prior to vote on the bylaws.
— Tar reported that 2 new PMO employees are being sought since current head will switch to working with the Preschool.
— Search Committee liaison, Jeanie Synyard, reported visit by one of finalists for rector; two more to visit in April.
— Received education subcommittee’s job description for a youth director to be advertised within a month with the new rector involved in selection.
— Tomberlin House: deposits from 4 women, 2 of whom will be tenants before May 1st.
— Men in Blue will put up a cooking shed near the swing set.
— Herb garden planted by Bill Querin and Judy Demott near kitchen door.
