Last winter the Reverend Otolorin Griffin, a priest in Sierra Leone in the Anglican diocese of Freetown and the North in the Province of West Africa, visited Christ Church while in Valdosta to see her son, a faculty member at Wiregrass Technical College. In February 2014 she spoke to the adult Sunday School class about the church in Sierra Leone and has stayed in contact with a Christ Church parishioner during the terrible ebola epidemic. She sent this picture of herself with the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby, who visited Freetown, Sierra Leone, on December 16, 2014. The Reverend Otolorin Griffin wrote, “The head of our Anglican Communion, the Most Reverend Justin Welby . . . came to console us during this challenging time of the unforgiving virus. We were all deeply encouraged.” She asks that we keep our brothers and sisters in Sierra Leone cradled in our prayers.
